As Martin Luther King Jr reminded us, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Our faith calls us in that spirit to keep love at the center of everything, but how as UUs do we put that love into practice? This question is ever-present for all of us, but particularly the queer community, who face hate and violence daily for the simple act of being, authentically, in this world. In a time where the darkness is wielded with ever growing ferocity against our LGBTQ+ siblings, the UU Rainbow ministry will explore, through prayer, music and reflection, how to embody love as an act of persistent resistance.
