At UU Princeton, Earth Ministry helps our congregation turn our values into action through sustainable living, community service, environmental education, and climate advocacy. Whether you’re passionate about food, conservation, or creating a greener future, there are many ways to get involved. 

Environmental Education & Spiritual Growth

Earth Ministry supports the Religious Education program to nurture environmental awareness from an early age, helping children and youth explore their connection to the natural world and understand how their choices affect the planet and one another.

Princeton Eats Plants

Join a monthly potluck celebrating delicious, plant-powered food and sustainable eating. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian, or simply curious, everyone is welcome to share a meal, exchange recipes, and enjoy good conversation. Conscious Consumers

Through the congregation’s Conscious Consumers initiative, we share simple monthly tips, challenges, and ideas that help individuals and families reduce waste, conserve resources, save money, and make more environmentally conscious purchasing decisions—one practical step at a time.

Fast for Earth

Each spring, Earth Ministry invites the congregation to take part in Fast for Earth—a 40-day environmental challenge that encourages participants to adopt one or more meaningful practices, from eating lower on the food chain to reducing waste and conserving energy. 

Hands-On Environmental Action

Earth Ministry also sponsors practical opportunities to care for our local environment, including Styrofoam recycling collections and community litter clean-up outings in the spring and fall. Keep an eye out on our newsletters for participation dates and guidelines.

Building a Greener Congregation

Earth Ministry partners with our Building & Grounds Team to help ensure that our congregation’s buildings and grounds reflect our environmental values. We are also working toward renewing UU Princeton’s Green Sanctuary recognition by expanding sustainability initiatives, strengthening environmental education, and weaving climate justice more deeply into congregational life.
