September 2025 – Spiritual Theme

Our Monthly Spiritual Themes guide our Chalice Circles, which are small, intentional groups of members and friends that gather for spiritual enrichment through personal sharing. For more information on Chalice Circles, please email chalicecircles@uuprinceton.org. Our Chalice Circle thoughts and questions around the theme of Inclusivity this month are:

“Inclusion works to the advantage of everyone. We all have things to learn and we all have something to teach.” – Helen Henderson

Has there been a time when you felt you weren’t inclusive for some reason? If you were, what do you think you might have missed in that experience? If not, what do you think you gained from being inclusive?

“One of the hallmarks of social wellness is being inclusive, not exclusive, with our friendship.” – Laurie Buchanan

How do you feel inclusivity plays a role in wellness? What might be the result of exclusivity? How might one or the other approach change you?

“Inclusion is extremely important for kids with and without disabilities.” – Clay Aiken

Has there been a time when either you or someone close to you experienced living with a disability? Do you think this has changed your perspective on the importance of inclusivity when it comes to disabilities?

“Exclusion is always dangerous. Inclusion is the only safety if we are to have a peaceful world.”– Pearl S. Buck

Is there a time when being exclusionary is an appropriate response? How would you bring inclusivity to a polarized situation? How would this feel?
