Hawks, Doves, and the Rest of the Flock

The late Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh wrote that those who have touched war “are the light at the tip of the candle.” They can bring about illumination and perspective, but only if those who haven’t touched war can engage their experiences with non-judgement and compassion. On Memorial Day weekend, let us consider how we might approach war in ways that increase understanding and community.
