We Registered Voters

UU Princeton Work on Voter Registration – Fall 2017

Thirteen volunteers from UU Princeton worked with the League of Women Voters on registering new voters at Mercer County College campuses in West Windsor and Trenton. The result was over 100 new voters registered at seven events. In his Sept 24th sermon, Rev. Neely outlined the importance of expanding the right to vote as part of our UU faith since we believe that broadly based decision-making is essential:

“As a faith, we tend to be populated with people who are politically active, and that’s great. But our activism has to expand beyond the party and politicians we prefer toward a more universal defense of voting as a fundamental right of every American.”

Voter registration is an essential expression of our faith. In addition, it was interesting to talk with students. As compared to last year, there was a new desire to vote and be part of choosing elected officials
