Our Gift to Trenton Community Music School

Trenton Community Music School

Our All Music Sunday Service on Valentine’s Day February 14 was a great day, full of music and warmth on that bitter cold Valentine’s Day. All of our ensembles performed brilliantly, and the American Boychoir was superb. Another highlight was Peter Eaton who shone in his singing of Rainbow Connection. The Social  Justice Ministry chose to give the worship service collection plate to the Trenton Community Music School, whose mission is to bring children together to make music, to develop their minds, imagination, and a sense of community. In 2015, in partnership with the Trenton Public Schools, Trenton Community Music School began its El Sestima program.

El Sistema

El Sistema is a publicly financed voluntary sector music education program founded 40 years go in Venezuela by a brilliant Venezuelan music educator, who believed in what he called Social Action through Music. Outlets are springing up all across the country and Trenton Community Music School, has taken up the mantle in fine fashion, making it possible for children with little or no access to music education to engage in that worthy pursuit.
