Our next Social Justice Committee meeting
March 14, 7:30 pm in Room 1 (downstairs).
We meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and all are welcome! Please also visit the Social Justice tables in Robinson Lounge after Sunday services to find out about upcoming events and initiatives. Our committee works well in collaboration with local groups to bring social justice information and actions to our congregants, as well as others. At least once per month we plan to have an activity or info-sharing session:
- January were the varied MLK Service activities and Citizen’s Climate Lobby meeting,
- February were Valentines for Planned Parenthood and Elected Officials, again the Citizen’s Climate Lobby meeting, as well as a special meeting of UULMNJ after service on Sunday February 26 at 12:30 ‘Refocusing the UU Legislative Ministry’s Agenda in the Age of Trump.’
- This month, March, is be our annual ‘Loaves and Fishes’ meal for our neighbors in need, as well as the Citizen’s Climate Lobby meeting and films in Fahs (The Best Democracy Money Can Buy on March 19, 3 pm).
Climate Change
Ministry for the Earth – Interested in ways to do something about Climate Change? Come to the Citizens’ Climate Lobby meeting – again convening at in Fahs on Saturday March 11, 12:30-2:30 pm. At these meetings we connect with peers and listen to the nation-wide broadcast update that runs from 1 to 2 pm. In February we heard about the Republican-sponsored Climate Dividend legislation in process. All are welcome! Contact Dunbar Birnie
